We developed an Enterprise Dashboard, following publication of our Benchmarking Start-up Business Activity report.
The dashboard, published 15th December 2009, highlights key business enterprise statistics for the West Midlands in a form that's easy to understand.
The dashboard draws on a range of enterprise statistics to give a more complete view of how the West Midlands performs under these indicators.
Explaining the indicators
We've also provided an explanatory paper (pdf, 162kb) to help interpret the indicators. The paper outlines definitions used and limitations of the data. There's also discussion of the topics that are not covered and the reasons for this.
Business demography
Six of the dashboard indicators use Office for National Statistics' Business Demography data. As this is such a rich source of information, and the dashboard doesn't make use of the time series data, we produced a business demography supplement (pdf, 120kb). This shows longitudinal performance of some of the indicators and disaggregation between local authorities.
