We are responsible for helping the region to develop better access to well organised information. We do this to improve the quality of strategy and policy making so that the region can provide services based on better information.
We carry out our own research, monitor the progress that regional strategies are making, and support partners, such as the Regional Skills Partnership, in meeting their data and intelligence needs.
Recent and ongoing research projects include:
The 2007 update report focuses on two major challenges facing the West Midlands region: climate change and changing population demographics.

This annual report highlights changes in the West Midlands regional labour market, key policy implications and challenges.

The results of the study are being used by the Learning and Skills Council to inform future provision of training and qualifications-related support for economic migrants. Results were also used by Advantage West Midlands in updating the West Midlands Economic Strategy.
We were commissioned by Government Office for the West Midlands to monitor the mandatory outcomes of Local Area Agreements. Key datasets measuring the mandatory outcomes can be viewed interactively through an InstantAtlas map.
