Enquiries service

We provide an enquiry service on regional data, research or analysis. All enquiries will be responded to within 24 hours with either an answer to the question or a date by which we can supply the information. Smaller enquiries are handled for free, including Freedom of Information Act enquiries. Larger enquiries or projects that take more than half a day to deal with are undertaken on a commissioned basis, which will be quoted for, if appropriate.

For straightforward enquiries, we can signpost people to relevant resources and data sources. We are well placed to do this because we are familiar with a range of research and data sources through our day-to-day work and have access to a range of contacts through the Regional Data and Intelligence Network. In addition, we also host the regional online resource catalogue.

However, we can also add value to data by undertaking analysis and presenting data in maps, tables, and charts or through commentary to make it easier to interpret. Similarly, where we are best placed, we can offer best practice advice on the collection, analysis, presentation, and management of research and data.

We have undertaken a range of work through the enquiries service and are always happy to discuss any data or research analysis requirements further. Examples of work undertaken through the enquiries service are included on the completed enquiries page, along with an indication of whether they were dealt with for free or charged for.
