Title: Contribution GVA of startups and micro businesses

Description Whilst we hold a number of measures of GVA , we do not know the average GVA contribution from micro businesses in the region. A lot of enterprise support activity is focused on helping stimulate new and sustainable businesses across the region. But what do they contribute to the output gap? If possible it would be important to understand the contribution of firms of other sizes and any breakdown by gender, ethnicity and age (unlikely)

This gap needs to be given a more specific focus and linked with Enterprise Board (doc, 76kb) work, as well as work going on nationally and with the Advantage West Midlands clusters. This will be achieved through the Observatory reviewing work that has already been done and specifying resultant gaps.
